Artist's Description
The house in this painting was built by Michael and Barbara Schafer in 1929. The original house on the property burned down, and the family lived in a granary as they built the house--six children and their parents in one room. Michael and Barbara raised 12 children in the home. The farm, near Flasher, ND, is still in the family, passed to Adam and Helen Schafer and their children. This is a commissioned piece.
