"Waltz of the Flowers" is my favorite movement in Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker." Of course, I'm a little biased. My daughter had the lead role of Dewdrop Fairy during the very first production of the traditional Christmas ballet in Bismarck, ND, by Northern Plains Ballet, now known as Northern Plains Dance.
I love the beautiful rhythm of the music, and the graceful movements of the dancers as they float through each section. I've seen the piece done by many different ballet companies across the country, and they are all beautiful.
While I painted this piece, I listened to the music and had the DVD of my daughter's performance playing in the background. It is very special to me, and I hope to you, too!
